Chapter Eleven: Fateful Decision

Chapter Eleven

Fateful Decision

The pauper had designated an appointed time for him to confide his purpose and feelings for the princess. He has long agonized in determining the appropriate season and means to disclose his heart to Alythia, and he has finally reached certitude and courage to tell her how much he loves her. He had prepared his heart for this.

The beacons have prayed and have given their consent. They have surmised that it will not serve the princess if he will remain silent.

“You are truly in love with her. Your love for her resounds in your speech and actions. And you can no longer keep it to yourself. Do not mislead her.

“You have labored in praying for her. Take courage. The Great Master has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline. Your mind will continue to race to and fro but it will not rest until you speak to her. Rest your anxieties and do not assume things that are yet to happen.

“Prepare your heart. Do not scorn her if she does not reciprocate your love and good intentions.”

These were the words of the beacons to the pauper. They have given their counsel very well. They pointed him to the only one who could do exceedingly marvelous things beyond the comprehension of any mortal being. The beacons have illumined his minds very well and aided him in processing the issues of his heart. They did not declare anything that would give the pauper false hopes. Thus they represented the counsel of the Great Master.

It is for the pauper now to take the step of faith to declare his love for Princess Alythia. The appointed time he had designated is nearer than before.

His heart races.

His mind rattled.

His hands quivering and sweaty.

His throat dried with expectation and uncertainty.

He will find out soon... very soon!
